Welcome to our dog friendly accommodation

Our pretty secluded cottage and idyllic boathouse chalet in mid Cornwall are both within walking distance to Nancarrow Farm (wedding and feast venue) with footpaths on the doorstep. We are located just 6 minutes’ drive from the dog friendly golden beaches of Perranporth and close to the A30 in central Cornwall perfect for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer.

Both the cottage and the boathouse have secure outside areas and are situated in quiet corners of our small holding. You are welcome to exercise your dogs in our fields and the local footpath runs through our property leading to miles of walking options.

Katie always gives a warm welcome and goes the extra mile with welcome gifts of biscuits and cream teas. Our dogs are also well looked after with treats and tags for their collars with Katie’s number incase they were ever to become lost in the local area. We call The Boathouse our happy place as we relax and feel at home immediately on arrival. The view over the lake and listening to the birds and other animals is just great. This time we saw a Heron land on the water. We look forward to visiting again soon 😊

Clean & tidy in a quiet location yet just 15mins from Perenporth, 45 mins from St. Ives.  We had our Springer Spaniel Maximus with us, so perfect walks around for him too! Katie’s gentle dog Hollie was a welcome visitor at the end of the day. If you want somewhere to get away from a busy schedule, and is central to everything then we would 💯 recommend a stay at Ventontrissick. Perranporth Beach was a first for us, and we completely fell in love with it. Katie is a fabulous host, and her local guide is an absolute must-read. It made our stay even more special. It’s such a cute little house right next to the lake, with beautiful views all around. There are no other houses right nearby the boathouse so it feels really private, peaceful and tranquil. Katie, the host, was so friendly and helpful, and even baked us a lovely cream tea one day, such a thoughtful touch! Our dog absolutely loved it too and had the best time in such a great location. Sitting on that decking looking out at the view and listening to the birds is the most relaxing place to be. Katie and her family were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. We even got scones!! Daisy made a friend in Holly and she often popped down for a treat. We stayed as our daughter was at Boardmasters (ideal location for this) as out of the chaos, but only 15 mins away. Whist here we visited Perranporth, crantock, Holywell Bay, Idless woods and did part of the coastal path at Wheal Coates, which was stunning. Everywhere is super dog friendly and the Smugglers Den pub which is 10 mins away was fantastic for food. All in all, this is a perfect Cornish getaway! Can’t wait to come back. Both were fantastic rentals: cozy, well equipped, very clean and in a magical farm setting. The most beautiful starry nights we have ever seen in the UK (obviously weather dependant!). Waking up with a view of the lake (from the boathouse) was very memorable. More than that though Katie was an amazing, welcoming host who consistently out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Even a jacket when I forgot my daughters! Katie and Nick have created a wonderful, quiet, secure and tranquil place to rest and relax. The location in Cornwall is fantastic, we visited Padstow, St Ives, Newquay, Perranporth and took trips to the Eden Project and Tintagel castle - aside from the latter, nothing took longer than around 30 minutes, meaning we covered so much in our weeks stay there. The secure patio area meant we could eat breakfast out there in the morning and barbecue in the evening, and the added bonus of their lovely dog Holly coming to say hello every morning was just the morning wake up you’d like! Would recommend to anyone new to Cornwall or a seasoned Cornwall-goer looking to re-visit their favourite places💗

Easy access to beaches at Perranporth (and fab micro brewery), Truro city and a wealth of great eateries. (We booked for a weekend of walking then I spent 2 days at a workshop at the Cornwall School of Art which was about 10 minutes away.) Easy dog-walking straight from the house with a lovely cool stream for the dogs to dip in less than 5 minutes walk away. The house was v well appointed with plenty of space. We were 2 adults with 2 dogs but the house could comfortably accommodate 4 adults using the sofa bed. Spacious kitchen and upstairs bathroom and a useful downstairs loo. The hosts were extremely helpful. All round a lovely stay and we hope to repeat it soon!

The cottage had everything we needed and our 4 dogs loved running and playing on the front lawn which was fully secure. The host was warm and welcoming and happy to help if needed. Beautiful View
The Boathouse is totally amazing with its beautiful view over the lake (seeing the kingfisher diving was a real treat for sure) , pure tranquillity, nature at its best.
Katie and her family are wonderful hosts, always on hand if need but not obtrusive in any way. Simply the best pace to unwind and relax, we didn’t want to leave.

The Boathouse is fantastic little place set next to a beautiful little pond. A great location to use as a base as we were never more than an hour away from places we wanted to visit, including Land’s End. Katie, our host, was amazing and went the extra mile to make our stay even more enjoyable.

Wonderful Hosts
Katie and her husband were wonderful hosts. The Cottage is very clean and well equipped in a great location, close to the A30 but very quiet. I would also recommend purchasing the eggs and vegetables from Katie’s garden.

Many Thanks Katie for a wonderful few days away. Lovely cottage and location and only sorry we weren’t able to stay longer

Our stay in Katie’s cottage was absolutely lovely. Katie and her family were the perfect hosts – flexible, kind and approachable but very discreet. The cottage was spotless, beautifully presented and well equipped.
Katie’s communication both before and during our stay was prompt and helpful at all times.

We enjoyed the delicious eggs and produce from her garden that were on offer throughout the week. The Cottage was a quiet haven, from where we were able to explore lots of the Cornish coat, as well as visiting Truro and lots of pretty inland villages. A great holiday!

Wonderful location for accessing all of Cornwall. Great food not too far to drive to collect.
Lovely little cottage to stay summer or winter, with a great kitchen with all you’ll need.

Great little enclosure for the dogs. run by a lovely couple, with great local knowledge.
Make sure to get your fresh produce orders in early.

Lovely Farm
We had the most lovely stay at The Cottage at Ventontrissick over the Easter weekend. Katie was a fantastic host and her and the family were lovely, extremely welcoming and accommodating (including Holly the dog who is now my 9 year old daughters new best friend!)

Set on a lovely farm in the Cornwall countryside, it was very peaceful, but still extremely accessible to all of the lovely coastal beaches and towns nearby.

The cottage itself was lovely, clean and very cosy and being dog friendly, it was great for our two little furry friends.

We really had the most lovely holiday and definitely want to return again in the future. Absolutely 5⭐️

Wonderful Weekend
We had a wonderful weekend in the Boathouse at Ventontrissick. Overlooking the lake from our balcony or through the balcony doors when it got chilly outside. So quiet and peaceful, yet not too far to go to be at the beach or looking around shops.

The place is clean and well kitted out. Very comfy bed, and lovely hot shower too… what’s not to like?!?

Myself and my boyfriend had an incredible experience staying at the boat house! The serene water views and cosy atmosphere made it a perfect retreat. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities truly exceeded my expectations.

The welcoming host added a personal touch to my stay, taking me on beautiful countryside walks and showing me around the local area, making it a memorable and enjoyable getaway. What’s more, the reasonable price made this unique accommodation an excellent value for a peaceful and charming escape. Highly recommend and we will most definitely be returning! Xxx
